Abstract
Apostal questionnaireconcerningthe Malaysiandentists' attitudes of their patients yielded a 73;1% responserate. Theresultsof this study indicatedthat a majorityofdentistsfeltthatpatientshad morenegative than positive attributes. Privatepractitionersattributedmorenegative traitsto theirpatients than theirpublicsectorcolleaques.About88% of dentistsindicatedthatthemostnegativepatientattributewasfearofpain. Fearofpainwasperceivedtobestrongerthanfearofthedentist(62.2%). likewise thepatients'inabilitytoseektreatmentsoonenough(78.4%), to comeforregularcheck-up(72.7%) and tofollowadviceonpersonaloral hygiene(70.1%) wereworrisome.
