Abstract	An apart:mentcomplexcollapsedin Malaysiakilling48 peopletrapped inside.Thedentaldisastervictimidentificationteamcomprisingofofficers fromtheKualaLumpurGeneralHospital,ArmedForcesandtheDental Faculty,UniversityofMalayaplayedaveryactiveroleintheidentification process.Mostof the bodieswerebadly decomposedand somegrossly disfigured.Problemswereencountereddue toinadequatefacilitiesand equipmentsatthemortuary.Difficultieswerealsoencounteredduringthe procurement and deciphering of information from dental records. Suggestionshavebeenmade to improvefacilities,expertiseand alsoto createawarenessamongst dentists to ensureproper recordingof their patients'dentalstatus.
